Living The Oats Life Oats & Being Beautiful

You know what's one of the best THINGS about having oats in your life? You realise that you could use them for more than just food!

That's right, I'm talking about using oats for skin care, specifically as a face mask. Before we start on the recipes, here are some reasons to make your own masks at home!

Unknown to many, oatmeal acts like a natural exfoliant. It removes dead skin cells to expose your beautiful bright skin underneath.

Oatmeal is also hypoallergenic, which means it is relatively quite unlikely to cause allergies to those with sensitive skin.

Oatmeal can also be used to sooth irritated skin, and in some cases, has been recommended as a pain relief from chicken pox.

Now that you know how oatmeal is good for your skin, here's how you transform it into an awesome skin mask
(ps. I hear it's also great for acne skin, but as always, check with a doctor before you do):

01
1/4 cup ground oats (about 1/2 cup Quickcook Quaker Oats, unground) 2 to 3 tablespoons water
02
Wash your face and pat dry. Mix the ground oats and water until the mixture is a smooth, spreadable paste. Add more oats or water if required.
03
Once satisfied with the consistency of the paste, apply it to your face, avoiding your eye area. Wait 15 to 20 minutes, then wash off with warm water. Finish with a cold water rinse.
